The Central Coast Amateur Radio Group (CCARG)

is a California 501(c)(3)

  Nonprofit Organization

IRS EIN# 92-0494969

The CCARG is a member of the

South County Chambers of Commerce.

The club was formed by David Qualls K6AYK in Grover Beach on 6-12-2022.

We are an ARRL Affiliated Club.

The objectives of the CCARG are to provide Training and Certification of Amateur Radio Licensed Radio Operators, we are volunteers who supply Communication support to the San Luis Obispo Emergency Communications Counsel, and we also support the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant Emergency Disaster Plan and the 5 cities local events for Public Safety. We perform regular training drills as well as the Yearly ARRL Field Day training and other fun events in SLO South Counties in the Central Coast of California.

The Club maintains a Vanity amateur Radio Station License W6WJ,   to be operated in support of such activities as:

  • Amateur Radio Emergency Service, (ARES) preparedness drills
  • American Radio Relay League "Field Day" preparedness tests
  • Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service; (RACES)
  • Support the SLOECC in Drills, City events, when needed and during real emergencies.

We are currently supporting the city of Grover Beach at the request of Chief John Peters, with the Grover Beach Dunes 5K Race and the Grover Beach Holiday Parade.  Seven of our trained operators with handheld radios and CCARG official yellow AREAS vests participated. We support, most amateur radio contests, and having fun is the clubs main goal.

The W6WJ Club Station operates all bands 80 meters to 6 meters plus 2 meters and 440 mhz bands. The Club Station is available for use by all qualified Members. The station will thus provide an important link in the local emergency communications network for all Central Coast Amateur Radio Operators in the San Luis Obispo (SLO) County area. Our Station is currently operating “ WinLink” and also EchoLink Modes.
